    I would vote for Tom’s because it looks more like the original…but Tim’s appears to be an excellent match to the NJ crab. 😂

    I was just trying this last weekend with fly rod. I did this with my spin cast years ago. Great little trick for though hard to cast areas. By the way I wasn't to successful with my fly rod. Oh darn! I have to go fishing to try it again.

    Tough one. I like Tom's fly much better except for the one wing. I like Tim's wings better but not the rest. I suppose I'd vote for Tom's fly.

    Such a great video! As a beginner, there are all these videos showing casting & landing... but mysteriously almost nothing about the actual fighting of the fish. In hindsight it seems self-explanatory, but hookset to landing was just a black hole of zero knowledge prior to this video. Thanks!

    I like to use CDL for the tails. It's much more durable as well as more realistic. 7/64 pt 1/8 will work fine, I like black and copper

    Was gonna buy one of these till I seen the woke ideology Being pushed by orvis.. super disappointed I really thought more of the whole company. I take my family and kids to the streams to stay away from all that.. orvis rods are a joke now I wouldn't be caught dead with one in my hand

    Every fly rod angler needs to master roll casting. I learned from my dad and his friends like perry munroe. Where we all live, if you wanna just get out and fish locally you almost always need to roll cast. Otherwise your havin a bad day in the trees.

    I would love to see a tie off using a "Mystery Material" selected by your followers or moderator. Something not typically seen in a fly. Does anyone have any Idea's for a "Mystery Material"?

    @Tim, I tie Klinks about 3 or 4 ways depending on hook size. Bigger hooks I use this exact method only a slight difference is I wrap the herl around the thread and tie it in to keep it strong and protected plus I use a marker to disguise it. It’s a great method with the post that I saw you demonstrate on the MRO video with Brian F. Great fly, great methods and great tying videos you guys do thank you both.

    @Mr Flagler… I’m embarrassed to admit, I just realised the hackle wrap direction (up /down) is related to the direction of the fibers to avoid trapping them. Tips down wrap up and tips up wrap down… there I was thinking about how Tom did not see the direction of the stacker and I missed that obvious one….

  • @MarcTelesha
    @MarcTelesha 23 дні тому

    Why do we always reverse wrap the wire and not the body materials???? I have learned that wrapping the wire the same way as the thread works so much better.

    I guess on some level you sound the same… great tip on the flash with a hole punch. I find fly tying Organisation to be really tough. If the holes in my dubbing boxes are not big enough then I have the cape I want always at the bottom of the stack. There’s always something.. Organisation tips are always greatly appreciated. Thanks for making these videos and all the effort in maintaining your channels.

    1:18 Where does the extra knot comes when you add the weight above your surgeons knot? The knot to your tippet is there anyways. What am I missing?
